Halifax Memorial Benefit Concert for Jay Smith Scheduled for Sunday, April 7th


Some influential members of the Halifax music community, and friends of Jay Smith, are organizing a memorial concert / benefit event for Jay’s family and two young children.  The event will take place on Sunday April 7th at Casino Nova Scotia.  Full details and updates can be found at the Jay Smith Memorial Benefit Concert Facebook page.

As you already know, well-known and loved Nova Scotia musician Jay Smith passed away in Edmonton while on tour with Matt Mays.  A trust fund has been created through Matt Mays website where donations can be made.

The Jay Smith Memorial Benefit Concert is being organized by Stuart Jolliffe, Mike Campbell, Carl Gosine, Jonny Stevens, Danny Thomas and Sonic Entertainment Group and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Smith Family Trust.

Confirmed artists so far are Matt Mays, Joel Plaskett, Gordie Sampson, Thom Swift, Matt Anderson, Bruce Guthro, Lennie Gallant, Carmen Townsend and Steven MacDougall.  More artists will be announced throughout the week.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, April 3rd at 12:00 through Ticket Atlantic Box Office, at participating Atlantic Superstores and online at http://www.ticketatlantic.com/

There are three separate events scheduled for April 3rd.  Tickets are $40 per event and there will be limited ticket packages for all 3 concerts.
