Zac Crouse has been nominated for 2 Nova Scotia Music awards (2011 Folk Recording & New Artist) for his debut album You Plan To Do Nothing . He has had a song (“Scott’s House”) chart at #4 on the CBC Radio 3 Top 30 in 2009, make the top 103 songs of the year (CBC Radio 3), and be nominated for an ECMA (Single of the Year). Crouse is also an avid paddler, who has undertaken many a paddling tour, including a four-month long kayak trip around Newfoundland. Yet nothing in his life could prepare Crouse for the death of his best friend – a death he witnessed during a kayaking accident in Nova Scotia.
In 2011, Crouse toured from Ottawa to Halifax, using only a sea kayak and a bicycle in support of You Plan To Do Nothing. It was a journey he had intended to do with his friend Corey. Paddle To The Ocean (a documentary film and accompanying soundtrack) is the story of Crouse’s trip. It is both a tribute to Corey and part of the healing process for Crouse.
The Paddle To The Ocean soundtrack includes three original songs + seven instrumental songs featuring members of Acres and Acres and a poem by Halifax’s Poet–Laureate Tanya Davis.
Paddle To The Ocean will be released on May 14th and Crouse will be touring both his music and the film. Crouse plays Halifax, at 1313 Hollis St., on June 15th.
