Here is the press release:

2013 The Coast’s (Halifax Weekly) silver place “Songwriter of the Year” winner, Jenny MacDonald, was voted right between two of Halifax’s most well-known and accomplished songwriters, Joel Plaskett (gold) and Matt Mays (bronze). MacDonald is a two-time, 2011 Music Nova Scotia award nominee, including “Blues Album of the Year” for her 2011 release, Bye, Bye, Mr. Bluesman, and placed bronze in The Coast’s “Best of Music” contest for “Best Artist to Enjoy Quietly” alongside her win in 2013.

In 2010, MacDonald co-penned the Slowcoaster hit “Flip Flops” at the Gordie Sampson Songcamp with writers Steve MacDougall (of Slowcoaster) and Brandon Johnson. The summer anthem sat on the top of the East Coast Countdown for numerous consecutive weeks in 2012. In the year since, MacDonald has had the distinct opportunity of songwriting alongside some of Canada’s top talent, including Mo Kenney, Gordie Sampson, Carmen Townsend, Dylan Guthro, and more.

MacDonald’s sound is a blend of bluesy-roots and classic singer/songwriter style with a soft heart and an edge.

MacDonald will hit the road with her longtime band-mates, Gregory Melchin (bass) and Brendan Melchin (drums), and will be performing fan favourites from her first two albums, as well as previewing songs from her upcoming release, “Out of My Mind” to hit the airwaves the fall of 2013.
