Anyone following the Halifax music scene knows that Willie Stratton is one of the nicest and hardest working musicians in the city. I have seen Stratton perform a number of times, including at two different venues on the same night.   I was also fortunate enough to see him perform  in Tara  Thorne’s musical Law & Order: Musical Victims Unit during the 2013 Atlantic Fringe Festival.  It is impossible to know of Stratton and not root for him to get his big break.

To no one’s surprise (because if there’s music in Halifax, he will be there), Stratton is playing Halifax Pop Explosion with his band The Boarding Party.   According to the official press information:

“Willie Stratton & The Boarding Party is a howling, seething  hurricane of ferocious rock & roll music. Featuring vocal harmonies  and  melodies that audiences should be prepared for an onslaught of energy. Hardworking easterners Willie Stratton & The Boarding Party summon their  musical influences from girl groups of the sixities with a tinge of  rockabilliy inspired by Gene Vincent. Willie has a flair for writing  catchy songs that leave the listener moved by the raw emotion in them.  They have already completed two  records, their first self-titled full-length album (2011) and most  recently their River EP (2012). “
