The November 28th Gottigen Street for Scott Jones fundraiser features Paper Lions, Heather Green, Erin Costelo, Cam Smith, Quake Matthews and many more!

The Halifax music & arts community brings you something special on November 28th.  On that evening a fundraiser to support Scott Jones will be held at six separate Gottigen Street venues.  This fundraiser features many Halifax artists (music, spoken work, comedy, etc) – see full schedule below.

Scott Jones is a 27-year-old music teacher from New Glasgow who was stabbed over Thanksgiving weekend, because of his sexuality. His spine was severed and he has been left paralyzed by the attack. “To have these performers and businesses come together in my name is overwhelming,” said Jones. “This is going to be an amazing night and I am so thankful for their support and love!”

“Scott’s hope and message of positivity in the face of adversity is inspiring,” said event organizer Georgia Richards. “This event is an opportunity to support Scott financially as his whole life changes, and to celebrate his courageous spirit. It is also a chance to take a stand against intolerance – we won’t stop speaking up, protecting each other and making our community feel safe. Everyone deserves to be safe. And we need you to help us.”

sweet little something – Heather Green

i’m not a superstar, i’m not a Hollywood actor
i’m not a big name famous face that they name street after
my mother didn’t come from old money or royal blood        no, no, no

i’m not a rocketman, i’m not a college professor
i’ve never won a noble prize and i probably won’t ever
the only thing my father left behind
is this guitar and these green eyes     yeah, yeah, yeah

prechorus:        but you, you see something in me
 and i, i can’t help but believe

CHORUS:        that this little known nothing’s

in the love that i make with you,     yeah yeah yeah

i’m not a gamblin’ man, ain’t got no lucky streak
even if i had a winning hand, my face would tell on me
so ante up ante up all you want no pot
could compare to what i’ve got     no, no, no

thank you life, thank you love
thank you for all this empty space, thank you for filling it all up
