New Music Recommendations

Looking for some new music to add to your collection?

Here are a few new releases or upcoming releases I recommend you look into.  I am excited about them.

Rob Currie – Take Me Back

Rob Currie is the former front-man of The Cornerboys.  He released his new album, Take Me Back, this past month.  It is a great Maritime album, and songs like “Romeo” (about the wrongfully convicted Romeo Phillion) and my favourite “Eastern Girl” (a Van Morrison tribute) give it broad appeal.  Currie has a Halifax CD release at The Company House on September 5th.

Heather Green – Clementine

Heather Green’s last album, Your Last War, was awesome!  Green has reunited with producer Daniel Ledwell for her latest release, Clementine.  The album comes out on September 11th and the CD release is at the Company House on September 12th.  The first single, “The Wild Ones” is now available for purchase.

Paper Beat Scissors – Go On

Paper Beat Scissors is one of my favourite bands.  The music is beautiful, insightful and reflective.  Paper Beat Scissors new album is scheduled for release on August 14th and the Halifax CD release show is September 17 at The Seahorse.  If you can’t wait a couple of days, you can stream the album at CBC music and you can also purchase two songs in advance – “Go On” and “Lawless”

Andy Brown – Seasons

New Brunswick’s Andy Brown is a marvellous song-writer with a captivating voice.  He earlier albums are fantastic and his latest Seasons will be released on August 18.  Brown will play at Rockbottom Brewpub in Halifax on August 28.  There is a lyric video for the first song “Run”

There are many other new and upcoming releases.  Please share what new releases about which you are excited.
